Without Form And Void

The earth was formless and empty, and doing and
darkness covered the deep waters; And the spirit of
God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
~ Genesis 1:2 NKjv
A couple of weeks ago, I received a letter from a close friend who’s not a Christian.. I hadn’t talked to her for months. In her letter, she tells me that her life has drastically changed. I got her permission to share certain parts of her letter. For confidential purposes, I’ve removed her name, and other events that could show her identity.
Before I share the letter, I must say that it moved me to check my walk with God. Sometimes, we think that we’ve got the perfect life, job, family, etc.. And we feel that we don’t need Jesus. For example consider this part of the letter:
For the last year, I felt trapped in a stressful career that
others dream about. In the past, money brought me joy
I’ve set across the table from some of the most influential people
in the world, but my mind is making me crazy.
Two weeks ago, I dreamt, that I w as in a coffin, and no one buried
me, or came to my funeral. I am scared! I don’t have peace!
Is peace for me?
I know, her story seems a bit extreme, but it isn’t. She’s simply stating what
many are going through, but are too ashamed to admit that they’re having
problems. Before we receive Jesus into our hearts, we’re, “without form and void.” When God created the heavens and the earth, everything was dark, formless, and empty.
In verse 3, God said, “Let there be light.” We can’t come to Christ without Jesus shining His awesome light on us. As soon as Jesus comes into our hearts, we see Him clearly.
